Effort lacking in IPFW loss

IPFW men's basketball coach Tony Jasick didn't mince too many words after his team's 58-54 loss to North Dakota State on Saturday at the Gates Center.

Because the visiting Bison had 13 offensive rebounds to IPFW's six, and consequently had 20 second chance points to IPFW's three, Jasick said it was all about effort. North Dakota State had it, and IPFW didn't.

It was the second narrow miss in three days to an elite team in the Summit League. On Thursday, the Mastodons lost 80-74 to South Dakota State.

Coming into this week, both North Dakota State and South Dakota State were tri-leaders in the league standings.

Jasick called his team out and said it was casual. He also vowed that kind of effort will be out of the program soon.

Frank Gaines had 16 points for IPFW, and Luis Jacobo had 14.
