CINCINNATI -- Another slow start squashed the Komets' chances of winning a key game at U.S Bank Arena.
Fifteen of the first 18 shots on goal were by the Cincinnati Cyclones, who beat the Komets 2-1 in front of 2,399 fans Tuesday night.
Scoring for Cincinnati were Andrew Conboy and Matt Smyth. Fort Wayne didn't score until Brandon Marino put a rebound into the net in the third period.
Cincinnati outshot Fort Wayne 29-21.
Defenseman Jamie Milam, re-signed last week, played his first game of the season for Fort Wayne. And Matt Syroczynski, who scored the Cup-winning goal for the Cyclones in 2008, played his first game here with the Komets.
Fort Wayne lost for the fourth time in the last six games.
The Komets had a power play in the final two minutes and got three shots but couldn't capitalize.
