Blaze hits house in northeast Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE – A house on the city’s northeast side was not occupied when fire struck at lunchtime, fire officials say.

Firefighters were called to 6151 Hazelett Road at 12:06 p.m. Tuesday, according to a written statement issued by the Fort Wayne Fire Department. When crews arrived at the home north of St. Joe Center Road, the exterior on the back side of the two-story house had heavy flames.

The fire was under control in about 15 minutes and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, the statement said. The house itself was listed as having moderate damage.
