Irish safeties coach recovering from kidney transplant

Notre Dame safeties coach Bob Elliott returned to his home Tuesday and is recovering from the kidney transplant he received, the university announced Wednesday.

Elliott received a kidney from his sister, Betsy, who returned home to Dublin, Ohio, to heal, the university said.

Elliott is working from home and is expected to be back in the office soon, according to the university.

The Journal Gazette's Assistant Sports Editor Tony Krausz covers The University of Notre Dame. Krausz, a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism and a native of St. Louis, has been assistant sports editor since October 2005. Prior to joining the JG, he worked at two papers in Mississippi covering high school and college athletics.
