Some EACS schools were on lockdown

East Allen County Schools in the Harding High School area were placed on lockdown Thursday morning.

The restrictions were reduced later in the morning.

No one was allowed in or out of the schools until the lockdown was lifted, said Tamyra Kelly, public relations liaison for the district.

She said the schools were put on lockdown at the request of the Allen County Sheriff's Department, but that she was not informed about what prompted the request.

Police were searching the woods near Southwick Elementary School at one point during the lockdown.
