2 men bind DQ employees in holdup

Two men bound two Dairy Queen employees with zip ties before fleeing the store with cash from the front register Monday, according to police reports.

Police responded to a report of an armed robbery around 9 p.m. Monday at Dairy Queen, 1818 Coliseum Blvd. N.

An employee told police that as she walked to the front of the restaurant to lock the doors, a man wearing a ski masked pulled open the door, pointed a gun at her and ordered her to open the cash register.

A second man followed the employee and the first man into the store, according to police reports. At least one of the men was armed, according to police reports.

A second employee who was cleaning the grill in the back of the restaurant was directed to open the register near the drive-thru window. The employee told police that he couldn’t get the drawer open. Before fleeing, the men bound both employees with zip ties.

The employees described one robber as a black man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black shirt underneath and blue jeans with a gold design on the back pockets. The second robber was described as a white man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black and gray shoes, the report said.

Employees told police that the men fled in a boxy-style vehicle that was dark in color with tinted windows.
