Purdue falls to IU

BLOOMINGTON – Indiana handed Purdue another crushing loss this season on Saturday in Assembly Hall.

The No. 1 Hoosiers blew out the Boilermakers 83-55 in the 200th game in the rivalry.

Indiana (23-3, 11-2 Big Ten) swept the season series against Purdue. The Hoosiers defeated the Boilermakers 97-60 Jan. 30 at Mackey Arena.

Indiana entered the game tied with No. 8 Michigan State for first place in the Big Ten. The Spartans play Nebraska tonight before playing host to the Hoosiers on Tuesday.

The victory evened coach Tom Crean's record at Indiana. He improved to 78-78 with the Hoosiers.

Will Sheehey scored a career-high 22 points on an Indiana record 9-for-9 shooting performance. Cody Zeller had 19 points and nine rebounds, and Christian Watford had 14 points.

Victor Oladipo, who appeared to injure his left ankle with 46.7 seconds left in the first half, didn't return to the Indiana bench to start the second half. The junior did come out of the locker room with 17:25 to play, but he didn't play in the second half.

A.J. Johnson, who scored 30 against IU in the first game, was held to six points, and Fort Wayne native Rapheal Davis, who returned to the starting lineup for Purdue, had four points before fouling out.
