Later rounds best in sectional draw

There aren't a lot of compelling first-round area matchups in the sectional draw, which the IHSAA released Sunday. But that just makes for the good ones will come later in the sectionals.

At the Carroll 4A sectional, Northrop and North Side could play in the second round, with the winner getting Columbia City, Snider or DeKalb in the finals.

At the Huntington North 4A sectional, New Haven and Wayne and Jay County and Homestead could face off in the semifinals. That then leaves for a good championship game with the survivors (I mean winners) of those semis.

At the Wawasee 3A sectional, Tippecanoe Valley could play either NorthWood or West Noble in the championship.

At the Garrett 3A sectional, Concordia has the only record over the .500 mark but will have to play Dwenger (which beat the Cadets in the sectional finals last year) in the first round and a high-scoring Leo team in the second round.

At the South Adams 2A sectional, both Bishop Luers and Bluffton drew byes and could meet in the championship game, with the Knights having to get past Adams Central in the second round.

At the Hamilton 1A sectional, Canterbury and Lakewood Park will make for an interesting championship game.
