About 3 p.m. Thursday the Rev. Bill McGill looked out of his window and pondered that it was the 37th day of his 40-day fast to draw attention to violence in the community, and there had been no civilian-on-civilian homicides in Fort Wayne.A vacant house caught fire early Sunday on Fort Wayne’s north side, according to the city fire department.
Firefighters were sent to 1426 St. Joseph Blvd., near Tennessee Avenue, about 2:20 a.m., and they encountered flames coming from the back of the two-story house, the department said.
The blaze, which heavily damaged the first floor, was under control by about 2:50 a.m. No one was hurt, the department said.
The cause remains under investigation.
