Blaze damages home on north side

A vacant house caught fire early Sunday on Fort Wayne’s north side, according to the city fire department.

Firefighters were sent to 1426 St. Joseph Blvd., near Tennessee Avenue, about 2:20 a.m., and they encountered flames coming from the back of the two-story house, the department said.

The blaze, which heavily damaged the first floor, was under control by about 2:50 a.m. No one was hurt, the department said.
