EAST LANSING, Mich. – Indiana took a 36-30 lead over Michigan State in the Breslin Center on Tuesday night.
The No. 1 Hoosiers hit 13 of 31 shots and went 5 for 12 from three-point range. The No. 4 Spartans were 11 for 25 from the floor and went 2 for 9 on three-pointers.
Indiana guard Victor Oladipo put to rest any concerns about the sprained left ankle he suffered last Saturday against Purdue in the first half. The junior scored a team-high 9 points and had three rebounds in the first half.
Cody Zeller had 8 points for Indiana after scoring six of the Hoosiers’ first 10 points.
While IU holds the lead, fouls could become an issue in the second half as Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell, Will Sheehey and Derek Elston each picked up two fouls in the opening half.
Adreian Payne led Michigan State in the first half with 10 points, and Garry Harris has 8.
Just like in the first meeting between these two teams this season, Indiana is holding Michigan State’s Keith Appling in check. The junior had only two points and committed two turnovers in the first half.
