Shooting victim ‘was targeted’

A shooting that left a man in serious condition Wednesday night was not random, Fort Wayne police said Thursday.

Officers were called at 7:08 p.m. Wednesday to a shooting inside TGFMobile, 620 E. Lewis St. When officers arrived, Derek L. Taylor, 36, of Fort Wayne, was found with at least one gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital in serious condition, police said.

“At this point, we do not believe it was a random shooting,” Raquel Foster, city police spokeswoman, said. “We do believe he was targeted.”

Taylor was released from the hospital Thursday, Foster said. The man who shot Taylor fled before police arrived. No suspect information was available, Foster said.
