Two brothers from Kosciusko County were arrested late Wednesday after a stabbing north of Warsaw left a man in serious condition.

Two other brothers were also arrested after an investigation into the stabbing led police to a marijuana stash.

Kosciusko County sheriff’s officers responded to a call shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday about a shooting at Suburban Acres Mobile Home Park, 3699 N. County Road 175 East.

When officers arrived, they found Ruben Enciso, 39, bleeding from what officers determined to be about 14 stab wounds.

Several people who were inside the mobile home at the time of the stabbing told police that Hugo and Juan Alvarado had entered the home and taken Enciso to a back room, said Sgt. Chad Hill, a spokesman for the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

As a helicopter arrived to take Enciso to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, officers found Hugo Alvarado, 33, lying in a ditch about 150 feet from the scene of the stabbing. Hugo Alvarado had a fractured leg and a bump on his head, Hill said.

He said it wasn’t clear how Hugo Alvarado was injured, but he might have been involved in a fight in Milford earlier Wednesday evening.

Several hours later, detectives went to a house at 314 N. Columbia St. in Warsaw where Juan Alvarado, 25, was found. Police entered the home and arrested him on a felony charge of attempted murder with a knife.

Officers also arrested two brothers in the same house early Thursday after they were found with about a pound of marijuana, devices to smoke marijuana and paraphernalia, as well as the knife that was used in the stabbing, police said.

Andres Oscar Cervantes and his twin brother, Armando Rene Cervantes, 36, each were being held at the Kosciusko County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail. Both were charged with felony marijuana possession.

Hill said the Cervantes brothers did not appear to be involved in the stabbing, but officers would continue to investigate.

Ruben Enciso was listed in serious condition at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Hill said. Hugo Alvarado was also at Parkview on Thursday but was in fair condition.

Hill said Hugo Alvarado will likely face criminal confinement charges because initial reports suggest he prevented others at the scene of the stabbing from assisting Enciso or calling for help.
