Indiana first lady to promote state bicentennial

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana first lady Karen Pence will be helping promote activities for the state's bicentennial celebration coming up in three years.

The 2016 Indiana Bicentennial Commission says the wife of Gov. Mike Pence will be its bicentennial ambassador.

The first lady will work with communities and organizations to help plan and promote activities marking the 200th anniversary of Indiana's statehood.

The bicentennial commission is led by former Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman and former congressman Lee Hamilton. They say Pence is a natural fit to help in planning celebrations around the state.
