Driver’s BAC 4 times over limit in fatal I-75 crash

FAIRFIELD, Ohio – A coroner’s report has found that the man responsible for a deadly wrong-way collision on Interstate 75 in southwestern Ohio had a blood-alcohol content more than four times the legal limit.

The findings say 40-year-old Joshua Nkansah of Fairfield had a BAC of 0.346 percent after leaving a Christmas party Dec. 23, when his mini-van collided head-on with another minivan carrying a Tennessee family.

Nkansah was killed instantly, as was one of his two sons in the van, 7-year-old David.

Also killed were 31-year-old Michele Barhorst and her husband, 37-year-old Scott Barhorst, both of Madisonville, Tenn.

The collision happened near Franklin as the Barhorsts were taking their four children to see their grandparents in St. Marys in western Ohio. Their children survived.
