FORT WAYNE – Carroll senior Grant Music was the lone Fort Wayne area swimmer who advanced into Saturdays championship flight of the IHSAA swimming and diving state finals at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis.
Music had the fifth-fastest time in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 56.69.
He was a member of the Chargers 200-yard medley relay team that finished ninth in Fridays preliminaries. Carroll had a time of 1:36.36. It was nosed out by Avon (1:35.56) for a spot in the final heat. Snider placed 13th in 1:37.37.
Sniders Gabriel Swardson was ninth in the 100-yard butterfly (50.94) and 11th in the 200 IM (1:54.60).
Carrolls Blaine Nichols was ninth in the 100 breaststroke (57.26) and 14th in the 200 IM (1:56.51), Sniders Brennan Lill was 16th in the 100-yard freestyle (47.75), Sniders 200-yard freestyle relay team was 14th in 1:28.39, and Warsaws Jayden Parrett was 13th in the 100-yard backstroke with a 52.97.
Diving prelims are at 9 a.m. today, the semis at 11, and the finals at 1 p.m.
