Redskins’ defense stops Spartans

– North Side’s defense held Homestead to six points in the opening quarter as the host Redskins went on to claim a 79-71 victory over the Spartans on Friday.

North (14-5) stretched its 32-25 halftime lead into a 52-39 lead going into the final quarter that was slowed by 32 combined free throws.

Dwight Richards hit five three-pointers and led North Side with 25 points. Homestead (16-6) was paced by Caleb Swanigan’s 21 points.

KOKOMO 65, NORTHROP 61, OT: Bryson Scott scored 26 points and Brenton Scott added 13 as the Bruins (16-7) fell at Kokomo (19-2).

BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 47, HERITAGE 46: Visiting Blackhawk got 22 points from Joey Morlan to top the Patriots. Zac Toles had 14 points for Heritage.

LEO 74, EAST NOBLE 47: The host Lions jumped out to a 19-2 first-quarter lead to beat East Noble. Adam Davison led Leo with 19 points, and Sam Waters had 17. Kaleb Williams had 14 for East Noble.

MARION 63, SNIDER 57: Snider shot 29 percent from the floor (18 of 63) in its home loss to Marion. Leander Williams paced the Panthers with 21 points.

SOUTH SIDE 69, MUNCIE SOUTH 52: Eric Hairston and Nate Thomas scored 16 points each to lead the visiting Archers.

CARROLL 44, WARSAW 43, OT: Chandler White’s 17 points and 14 from Mason Miller helped the visiting Chargers past Warsaw. Jared Bloom led the Tigers with 14 points.

NORWELL 68, HUNTINGTON NORTH 67: Visiting Norwell had five players in double figures, led by Josh VanMeter’s 19 and 18 from Drew Shively, to offset the 24 points scored by Huntington North’s Noah Reed. Kalvin Miller added 16 for the Vikings.

CHURUBUSCO 62, EASTSIDE 57: Brent Simmons scored 13 of his 21 points from the free throw line, and Blake Gross had 11 of his 13 from the line for the host Eagles. Ryan Liechty and Jayden Lilly had 15 each for Eastside.

ANGOLA 53, LAKELAND 44: Craig Nofziger and Justin Davis had 17 points each to lead host Angola.

FARFIELD 53, CENTRAL NOBLE 37: Alex Vice had 27 points for host Central Noble.

ANTWERP, OHIO 56, WOODLAN 50: Host Woodlan was led by Jaylin Bennett’s 13 points.

LAKEWOOD PARK 80, ADAMS CENTRAL 47: Visiting Lakewood Park scored 20 points in every quarter to drop the Flying Jets. Wesley Davidson had 27 points for Lakewood, and Dalton Combs had 16 for Adams Central.

TIPPECANOE VALLEY 78, WAWASEE 48: Nick Kindig erupted for 33 points for host Valley.
