Key matchup: The Irish will need to limit Kilpatrick, the Bearcats 6-foot-4 swingman, again. Notre Dame held him to 15 points in its 66-60 win Jan. 7 in the Big East opener. The Bearcats will need to find a way to contain Cooley. The 6-foot-9 senior is averaging a double-double and had 11 points and eight rebounds in the teams first matchup.
The skinny: Notre Dame is coming off a six-day break after winning three of its last four, including its last game – a 51-42 win at Pittsburgh. Irish senior guard Scott Martin, who has missed eight games with a knee injury, is getting closer to returning, but coach Mike Brey told reporters this week that it likely will not be this afternoon. Notre Dame is 6-2 without Martin.
