Purdue hits the road

Purdue had plenty of time to prepare for Sunday's 74-43 home win over Northwestern.

The Boilermakers (13-14, 6-8 Big Ten) had eight days off before playing the Wildcats.

This week will not give Purdue that kind of time. The Boilermakers play at Iowa (17-10, 6-8) on Wednesday, and they travel to play No. 16 Wisconsin (19-8, 10-4) on Sunday.

"We have a big week this week," Boilermakers coach Matt Painter said during Monday's Big Ten coaches' teleconference. "We had a good win (Sunday) versus Northwestern. Trying to get ready with two days prep for Iowa, then going on the road for back-to-back games, we struggled the week before with a couple of road games (loses to Illinois and No. 1 Indiana).

"This will be a big test for us. I know Iowa is coming off a tough loss (64-60 to Nebraska on Saturday), and they'll be ready to play."

Painter said Purdue will focus on rebounding and cutting down on turnovers this week.

"We had 15 turnovers (Sunday) night, and we had 35 in our two road games," Painter said. "I think it is going to be really important to us to give ourselves a chance to take care of the basketball and rebound the ball this week versus Iowa and Wisconsin."
