WOOSTER, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper shot a 24-year-old man whose companion drove a speeding car toward officers.
It happened Sunday morning near Wooster in northeast Ohio. The man — who was a passenger in the car — was taken to a hospital in Akron. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Police said the trooper and a Wooster police officer were investigating a suspicious vehicle, when it accelerated through a yard of a residence and toward the officers. The trooper fired into the car.
The driver of the car attempted to flee on foot and was caught.
