Unresponsive baby spurs tests, inquiry

Fort Wayne police are investigating why a 1-month-old boy had to be rushed to a hospital in critical condition Sunday evening.

At 6:20 p.m., police officers were sent to help paramedics at a home in the 4900 block of Lester Drive in the Stonecrest mobile home park at East Tillman Road and Wayne Trace.

When they arrived, the baby was not responsive, and he was taken to the hospital. He remained in critical condition Monday, police said.

Officer Raquel Foster, a police spokeswoman, said investigators had conducted interviews and were waiting on the results of a medical evaluation of the boy’s injuries.

Foster declined to release any other information Monday.
