The battle for conference supremacy isn't supposed to happen when the postseason rolls around.
And it isn't. really, but Friday's sectional semifinals at Carroll will pit two the SAC's finest in Northrop and North Side facing each other on one side of the bracket, and then two of the NHC's best, DeKalb and Columbia City, on the other side for the right to play in Saturday's championship game.
The defending sectional champion and three-time SAC tournament champion Bruins (17-7) and SAC regular-season champion Redskins (14-5) will play at 6 p.m., with the Barons (16-7) and Eagles (20-3) at 7:30 p.m.
DeKalb and Columbia City tied for second place in the NHC with 5-2 records.
"You want to play on Friday and Saturday nights in the sectionals in Indiana," DeKalb coach Jon Everingham said of the Barons beat Snider 54-47 in Wednesday's quarterfinals. "We got past the first step, and now it gets more difficult.
"It is going to be an absolute dogfight (Friday). I think you will see two different styles, but you will see four teams who are really good."
North Side beat Northrop 65-59, and Columbia City slipped past DeKalb 47-46 in the regular season.
Fans might want to get to Carroll early for these two games.
