Komets beat Walleye in OT

The Komets had squandered so many chances, that it seemed as if they'd never come up with a 5-4 overtime victory over the Toledo Walleye on Wednesday.

But they did. Jean-Michel Rizk scored 3:05 into overtime for the victory at Memorial Coliseum. It came after the Komets coughed up a two-goal lead in the third period. And in overtime, Matt Firman had hit the post on a breakaway and Dan Nycholat was stopped on a 2-on-1 rush. For the Komets, it was their second victory in nine games. And it snapped a streak of eight games in which they failed to score more than three goals. For more on this game, read Thursday's Journal Gazette.
