Warsaw wins in double overtime

It took 40 minutes, but Warsaw finally got the last word Tuesday night.

The Tigers and Elkhart Central went two overtimes at the 4A Elkhart Central boys sectional before Warsaw won 45-44.

Jared Bloom’s free throw with a second left in the second OT ended it.

Bloom finished with 17 points to lead all scorers.

Rahann Jackson added 15 points for the Tigers.

Boys sectionals

WAYNE 72, SOUTH SIDE 59: At the 4A sectional at Huntington North, the Generals led 17-4 after a quarter and 38-17 at halftime. Justin Mitchell scored 21 points for Wayne.

Eric Hairston scored 24 for South.

HOMESTEAD 59, HUNTINGTON NORTH 33: At Huntington North, the Spartans outrebounded Huntington 46-13 to win easily. Nick Gamble scored 16 points, Trevor Osborn 14 and Caleb Swanigan finished with 10 points and 15 rebounds for Homestead. Seth Coate claimed 13 boards.

WOODLAN 63, GARRETT 40: In the 3A Garrett Sectional, Shawn McGettigan scored 14 points, Kadin Gerig 13 and Justice Williams 11 for Woodlan.

NORWELL 97, EASTBROOK 72: The host Knights scored 51 points in the second half at its own 3A sectional. Four Knights hit double figures, led by Cam Denney (25 points), David Vogel (24), and Josh VanMeter (19).

CONCORDIA 55, BISHOP DWENGER 40: In Garrett, the Cadets outscored Dwenger 36-19 across the middle two quarters to advance.

D.J. McCall led the Cadets with 13 points.

WHITKO 41, BELLMONT 35: In Norwell, Whitko scored four points in the first half but outscored Bellmont 37-19 in the second.
