Like father, like daughter

TERRE HAUTE - Alexa Bailey joins her legendary father as a state champion.

Bailey led Bedford North Lawrence to a 54-51 win over South Side on Saturday in the Class 4A state title game at Indiana State.

Bailey's father, Damon, is the state's all-time leading scorer with 3,134 points and also won the 1990 single-class state championship.

Alexa Bailey had 19 points, three rebounds, four steals and three assists for the Archers (24-4).

It is one of the rare father/daughter state title combinations.

Damon Bailey, an assistant coach for the BNL girls team, also starred at Indiana University and played with the Fort Wayne Fury.
