Ohio school locked down after shot fired blocks away

– A school near Cleveland was put on security lockdown for about an hour Friday morning after a gun was fired at a nearby church funeral for a rap performer shot and killed last week. No one was hurt.

The East Cleveland funeral was held for Cedric Morgan, 24, who performed under the name “Lil Ced.” His music highlighted East Cleveland poverty and violence issues.

Morgan was shot Feb. 20 in the head, pelvis and left arm while sitting in a car outside his East Cleveland home. His death was ruled a homicide and remains unsolved.

In one video, he brought up violence: “Don’t come at me wrong. If you come at me wrong, bye, bye.”

At the time of his death, Marvin “EC Marv” Williams, an East Cleveland rapper who made a song with Morgan last year, told The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer that Morgan wasn’t involved in gangs and got along with everyone.

“He took other people’s situations, put them into words and made raps about it,” Williams said.

The shot apparently was fired from outside but didn’t penetrate the church wall. The gunshot prompted the lockdown three blocks away at Chambers Elementary School.
