The elderly couple told police they had been duped out of thousands of dollars and that their Social Security checks were diverted to Georgia, which gave detectives their first real clue.A shooting in the parking lot of a Fort Wayne bar left a man and woman with serious injuries early Saturday, city police said.
Officer Jason Anthony, a police spokesman, said an altercation in the lot of Sports & Spirits, 1723 E. Wayne St., preceded the shooting.
Anthony said the man and woman were in a car leaving the lot when they were both shot in the backside. The woman’s shoulder was also shot, he said.
The victims arrived at St. Joseph Hospital in a private vehicle shortly after 1 a.m. Their identities were not made public.
Police did not release any information about suspects. Investigators were reviewing surveillance video from the bar, Anthony said.
