UConn wins in rout, shifts focus

– No. 3 Connecticut can finally focus on a Big East rematch against No. 2 Notre Dame.

Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis scored a career-high 32 points and Stefanie Dolson added 25 on Saturday as the Huskies tuned up for a highly anticipated regular season-ending showdown with an 85-51 rout of South Florida that sends coach Geno Auriemma and his players to South Bend eager for their next challenge.

The Irish beat UConn 73-72 on the road two months ago. A possible share of the conference regular season championship will be at stake Monday night.

“We needed to take care of Saturday before thinking about Monday. With a quick turnaround, we were more concerned about how we were going to conduct ourselves today,” Auriemma said.

Mosqueda-Lewis paced the Huskies (27-2, 14-1) by making 11 of 23 shots.

No. 1 BAYLOR 80, WEST VIRGINIA 49: In Morgantown, W.Va., Brittney Griner had 28 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks to lead the Bears.

No. 4 STANFORD 72, WASHINGTON STATE 50: In Pullman, Wash., Chiney Ogwumike had 28 points and 13 rebounds to help the Cardinal (28-2, 17-1 Pac-12) clinch at a share of the Pac-12 conference title.

No. 6 CALIFORNIA 78, WASHINGTON 50: In Seattle, Talia Caldwell made 10 of 11 shots and finished with 22 points as the Bears won their 15th straight to claim a share of their first Pac-12 crown.

VILLANOVA 77, No. 22 SYRACUSE 75, 3OT: In Syracuse, N.Y., Laura Sweeny scored a season-high 29 points and Rachel Roberts added 20 to lead the Wildcats.

TCU 61, No. 23 IOWA STATE 58: In Fort Worth, Texas, Zahna Medley scored 18 points as the Horned Frogs pulled the upset.
