Bridge north of downtown to close

FORT WAYNE – Work to remove a logjam near downtown is expected to close the Van Buren Street and Sherman Boulevard bridge over the St. Marys River next week

The road, which changes names in that area, will be closed to all traffic just north of Superior Street, the Fort Wayne Traffic Engineering Department announced Tuesday.

It said the closure will begin on Monday and continue through March 15.

A large crane will be erected on the bridge to remove debris around the base of the bridge structure, the announcement said.

The official detour will use State Boulevard, Wells Street and Superior Street.
