Noble drug sweep nets 23 suspects from region

Officers from multiple law enforcement agencies arrested 23 area residents Wednesday on drug-related charges from Noble County.

Noble County Prosecutor Steven Clouse said criminal charges were filed against 22 adults and one juvenile. The drug sweep involved officers from Steuben, LaGrange, Noble and DeKalb counties, Clouse said.

Arrested were Derid J. Becker, 31, Kendallville, four felony counts of dealing a controlled substance and misdemeanor taking a juvenile to a nuisance; Jerid L. Becker, 31, Topeka, two felony counts of dealing methamphetamine; Nathan J. Brady, 22, Kendallville, felony dealing a controlled substance and dealing methamphetamine; Alden R. Cochran, 54, Kendallville, felony dealing a controlled substance; Heather N. Collins, 21, Kendallville, dealing methamphetamine, dealing a controlled substance, dealing a synthetic drug and misdemeanor taking a child to a nuisance.

Wendi R. Florez, 32, Kendallville, felony dealing a controlled substance; Gerald W. Grider, 42, Kendallville, two felony counts of dealing a controlled substance; Judy A. Hershberger, 55, Topeka, felony receiving stolen property; Jonathan D. Hillsburg, 34, Muskegon, Mich., felony dealing a controlled substance; Starmarie L. Hillsburg, 32, Muskegon, Mich., felony dealing a controlled substance.

Nathan K. Hinsch, 24, Kendallville, three felony counts of dealing methamphetamine, one count dealing in a legend drug; Brandon S. Keister, 21, Kendallville, two felony counts of dealing methamphetamine, one count of dealing in a legend drug; Cody C. Langley, 23, Kendallville, two felony counts dealing a controlled substance, one count dealing marijuana.

Amy M. Melchi, 25, of Avilla, felony dealing methamphetamine; Shaye Nartker, 22, Kendallville, felony dealing in methamphetamine, misdemeanor taking a child to a nuisance; Marjorie F. Parker, 24, Kendallville, two felony counts of dealing in a controlled substance, one count neglect of a dependent, two misdemeanor counts of taking a child to a nuisance; Anthony Short, 40, Kendallville, two felony counts of dealing methamphetamine. Short has also been charged in LaGrange County with felony of dealing methamphetamine.

Chad N. Smith, 40, Kendallville, felony dealing methamphetamine; Joshua P. Sparkman, 40, Kendallville, two felony counts of dealing methamphetamine; Carrie E. Stahl, 32, Kendallville, two felony counts of dealing a controlled substance, two counts of dealing methamphetamine, misdemeanor taking child to a nuisance; Stephanie R. Thompson, 26, Kendallville, felony dealing a controlled substance.

A 17-year-old girl was also detained at a local juvenile center on the felony charges of dealing marijuana. A 21-year-old Kendallville man was arrested on a charge of visiting a common nuisance, police said.
