Coming into the season, the back-to-back games scheduled between the Komets and Florida Everblades looked as if they’d be epic showdowns.
Not so much.
The Everblades, defending champions of the ECHL, won both games in commanding style – 6-2 on Saturday, a night after they won 6-3 at Memorial Coliseum.
As for the Komets (29-30-3), who won the CHL title last season, does they are in 11th place, nine points back of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, with only 10 games left in the regular season.
The Everblades (32-20-10) scored three goals on nine shots in the first period.
Forward Matthew Pistilli scored a power-play goal from the left circle at 4:32, and defenseman Tyson Gimblett scored 47 seconds later from the 20 feet out.
