  • K's drop to 4th in rankings
After getting soundly defeated by the Toledo Walleye twice in the last week, the Komets have dropped in my ECHL Power Rankings. Idaho now tops the list.
  • A good cause
The Fort Wayne Freeze, the police department team, will take on the Cincinnati Firefighter Hockey Club at Memorial Coliseum at 3 p.m. Saturday.
  • No defense, no win for Komets
TOLEDO, Ohio – In what has been a largely excellent start to the season, the Toledo Walleye has proved problematic for the guys in orange and black.

Pregame primer

Heading into the second of back-to-back games between the Komets and Florida Everblades -- the Everblades won 6-3 on Friday night -- there are a couple of interesting storylines.

Fort Wayne's Brandon Marino is now tied for third in the ECHL with 66 points. He's three points back of Florida's Mathieu Roy and seven behind Gwinnett's Casey Pierro-Zabotel.

Also, after some trash talking last night, anyone else think Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock and Brent Henley kind of have to fight tonight? I do.

By the way, Jeff Deslauriers has started seven straight games for the Koemts since being sent down by Anaheim of the NHL. I would expect him to play most of the games the remainder of the season, though I wouldn't be surprised if Charlie Effinger gets the nod tonight.

Fort Wayne has only 23 goals over the last 12 games.
