Louisville leaders: Russ Smith (18.4 ppg); Gorgui Dieng (10 rpg); Peyton Siva (5.9 apg)

Key matchup: Two of the Big East’s best guards will square off for a second time this season. The Irish’s Atkins, a 6-foot-2 junior, is third in the league in assists and had 14 points in Notre Dame’s 104-101 five-overtime home win over Louisville on Feb. 9. The Cardinals’ Siva, a 6-foot senior, is fourth in the Big East in assists but had two points and four assists Feb. 9.

The skinny: Notre Dame will be without reserve forward Cameron Biedscheid today. The 6-7 freshman was suspended for the regular-season finale after he got into a fight with St. John’s Sir’Dominic Pointer in Tuesday’s 66-44 home win. … The Irish should know when this afternoon’s game tips off where they stand in trying to capture a double-bye for the Big East tournament, which begins Tuesday in Madison Square Garden. Notre Dame is tied for fourth in the league with Pittsburgh, which plays DePaul at 2 p.m., and Syracuse, which plays Georgetown at noon.
