ST. LOUIS – Doug McDermott had 25 points and nine rebounds, and Creighton reached the final of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament with a 64-43 victory over Indiana State on Saturday.
Creighton, the top seed in the tournament, will face No. 2 seed Wichita State in todays final. The Shockers beat sixth-seeded Illinois State 66-51 on Saturday.
McDermott was 6 of 7 from three-point range and 8 of 10 overall for the Bluejays (26-7), who opened the game on an 11-2 run and later scored 18 unanswered points en route to a 41-18 halftime lead.
The Sycamores (18-14) couldnt get much closer in the second half as Creighton cruised to the victory.
Gregory Echenique added 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting for Creighton, which shot 61.5 percent from the floor in the first half and 53.5 percent overall. Manny Arop had 13 points to lead fifth-seeded ISU, which shot 26.5 percent from the floor.
GRACE 72, DAKOTA STATE 59: In Point Lookout, Mo., the Lancers advanced to the semifinals of the NAIA Division II national championships. They will play William Penn (33-1) at 6 p.m. Monday.
Tannon Peters and Karl Columbus each scored 18 for Grace (24-9) in the quarterfinals, and Elliot Smith and Bruce Grimm Jr. each added 12.
John Lamb and Yusuf Vinson each scored 14 for Dakota State (21-13).
BUTLER 67, XAVIER 62: In Indianapolis, Rotnei Clarke scored 21 points and Kameron Woods scored 15 off the bench to lead the Bulldogs. Clarke connected on three three-pointers for Butler (24-7, 11-5 Atlantic 10) and converted 8 of 8 free-throw attempts.
Samaj Christon scored 20 points to lead Xavier (17-13, 9-10).
BALL STATE 53, NORTHERN ILLINOIS 51: In Muncie, Jauwan Scaife scored 17 points for the Cardinals in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Majok Majok added nine points for the Cardinals (15-14, 8-8 MAC), who won their fifth straight game and locked up the No. 5 seed and a first-round bye in the MAC tournament, which begins Monday.
Darrell Bowie led the Huskies (5-24, 3-13) with 10 points. Aksel Bolin chipped in nine points.
SOUTH DAKOTA STATE 66, IUPUI 49: In Sioux Falls, S.D., Nate Wolters scored 20 points, Tony Fiegen had a double-double and top-seeded South Dakota State (23-9) advanced to the second round of the Summit League tournament.
Mitchell Patton led IUPUI (6-26) with 17 points.
IOWA 74, NEBRASKA 60: In Iowa City, Iowa, Aaron White led a balanced effort with 19 points as the Hawkeyes (20-11, 9-9) finished at .500 in the Big Ten for the first time in six years.
Adam Woodbury had 12 points for the Hawkeyes, who clinched the No. 6 seed in next weeks Big Ten tournament.
Ray Gallegos had 22 points for Nebraska (14-17, 5-13), which will be the No. 10 seed for the league tournament.
