Irish in the polls

The Notre Dame women's basketball team held steady at No. 2 in the Associated Press Top 25 as it chases the Big East tournament title this week, and the men's team kept its No. 24 spot in the AP poll but fell out of the USA Today coaches poll.

The Irish women (29-1) play No. 16 Louisville (24-7) in the Big East semifinals at 6 p.m. today at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn.

Baylor remained No. 1 in the women's AP poll, receiving all 40 first-place votes.

The Notre Dame men (23-8) finished their regular season with a 73-57 loss at No. 4 Louisville (26-5), costing the Irish the No. 24 spot in the USA Today coaches poll.

The Irish are the No. 6 seed in the Big East tournament, which begins Tuesday in Madison Square Garden. Notre Dame will play the winner of Tuesday's game between No. 11-seeded Rutgers (14-15) and No. 14-seeded DePaul (11-22) at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
