PHOTO CONTEST: The DNR Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology in Indianapolis is sponsoring a photo contest to recognize Hispanic Preservation Month in May. Select photos from the exhibit will travel to various Indiana locations, including the Wabash County Historical Museum, Wabash.
CLASS: IPFW will hold Exploring the World in 3D Art from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays for those in kindergarten through third grade, and 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for those in fourth to eighth grades. The classes start Saturday and end April 27.
AUDITIONS: Grand Effect Productions will hold open auditions for The Ritz from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Calhoun Street Soups, Salads and Sprits, 1915 S. WRITERS CONTEST: Huntington City-Township Public Library and WFWA-DT, PBS 39, are sponsoring the 2013 PBSKIDS GO! Writers Contest, open to children in kindergarten to third grade. Stories must be written and illustrated by the child, and first place winners will advance to regional judging at WFWA in Fort Wayne. For entry forms, visit the library, 255 W. The library is holding a free writers and illustrators workshop at 2 p.m. Saturday for anyone interested in submitting a story.
NEW EDUCATION COORDINATOR: Nicole Griffetts is the new education coordinator for The History Center.
MOVIE GRANT: The Cinema Center received a $17,500 grant to support diversity programming from the Lincoln Financial Foundation.
WINNERS: Melissa Meyer, a student at Western High School in Russiaville, took Best of Show for A Colorful Room at Huntington University High School Art Show. Local winners include Amber Puran of Carroll High School, who won first place, and Hannah Priskorn, of Lakewood Park Christian School in Auburn, who won third place.
