EACS forums set on superintendent

The East Allen County Schools Board will host several public forums where parents, community members and school employees will be able to chime in on the search for a new superintendent.

Currently, the board is working with University Team Support for Superintendent Recruitment in finding a replacement to take the helm vacated when the board and former Superintendent Karyle Green agreed on the terms of a contract buyout last month.

At the public forums, the school board is asking those planning to attend to reflect on these questions before the meeting:

• What are the strengths of the schools in our communities that will attract a superintendent?

• What are the challenges of the schools in our communities that a superintendent will face?

• What are the personal and/or professional characteristics that will be absolutely essential for the success of the next superintendent?

One public forum will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at New Haven High School, which is for all those involved in New Haven and Harding area schools.

Other meetings will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Junior-Senior High School, Leo Junior-Senior High School and Woodlan Junior-Senior High School.
