Shooting leaves man in critical condition

An early-morning shooting left a man in critical condition, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of Reed Street west of South Anthony Boulevard about 3:30 a.m. Friday and found an adult male lying in the middle of the road suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was in critical condition at the scene and transported to a local hospital, police said.

Witness reported hearing several gunshots and that the victim was pushed out of a four-door car, police said.

A car, which investigators believe was involved in the shooting, was located at the intersection of Colerick and Oliver streets where it had crashed into a bush. Witnesses said a subject fled the scene on foot, leaving the vehicle behind, according to police.

The identity of the victim has not been released and the investigation in ongoing.
