CHEERS to the generous man with a young boy who randomly gave my expectant daughter $100 while she was at Meijer on Lima Road with her two young daughters on March 3. She was left speechless and teary eyed. How much joy it would bring me to have the means to do such random acts of kindness.

I think they need a reminder of the meaning of a few words. “Home” is where one lives as a member of a family. “Loyalty” is a strong feeling of support or allegiance. A “true fan” is someone who continues to support the team, win or lose. Maybe they should think about these words before they attend the next game.

CHEERS to the county officer who likely saved a dog and its family any more grief on March 5. I was driving east on Cedar Canyon Road near Auburn Road. A county officer stopped in the middle of the road and turned on his flashing lights, got out and called for the good-sized dog. The officer directed the dog into the back seat and drove down to the next housing area, going to the first door.

CHEERS to Marvin O. Ross for his letter, “Neediest abandoned in budget showdown (March 6).” Ross has been a longtime advocate for disadvantaged citizens in our community. His letter emphasizes the support of the wealthy minority by Rep. Marlin Stutzman.
CHEERS also to Eugene Robinson for his March 6 column, “Grieving dad propels gun-control debate,” and the subject for this column, Neil Heslin, who courageously testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
