Lane restrictions to allow widening

Indiana 14, from West Hamilton Road to Scott Road in Allen County, will have intermittent lane restrictions starting Monday, weather permitting.

A contractor will begin work for placement of temporary pavement, widening the existing westbound lanes to allow traffic flow in both directions during the added travel lanes project. This initial work will require intermittent lane restrictions under the direction of flaggers during daytime hours and is expected to be complete by 5 p.m. Friday.

There is a reduced speed limit of 40 mph in effect 24 hours a day, which will remain until completion of the project.

The project will consist of widening Indiana 14 to four lanes, with a continuous two-way left turn lane, between West Hamilton Road and Scott Road. Three bridges will be widened and rehabilitated and one new bridge will be built.

City’s 311 gets national award

The city of Fort Wayne’s 311 Citizen Services department has received a national award from KANA Software for Best Citizen Experience.

The department assists 22 city departments. Last year, 311 was honored as one of the top 100 small call centers in the U.S. by BenchmarkPortal.

Citilink wants bus drivers thanked

Citilink is celebrating International Bus Driver Appreciation Day and is encouraging everyone to thank a bus driver on Monday.

The day began in Seattle and is celebrated on March 18 each year because it is believed that the first bus service began in Paris on March 18, 1662. For more information, see www.busdriverday.org.

Mayor’s Night In set for Monday

Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry will host Mayor’s Night In from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday. Fort Wayne residents are invited to schedule an appointment to meet with Henry in his office on the fourth floor of Citizens Square to have an open dialogue about any concerns, comments, feedback or suggestions related to city government or services.

City residents can schedule their 10-minute block of time with Henry by calling 427-1288. Times are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents who met with the mayor during a previous Mayor’s Night In or Mayor’s Night Out event will be placed on a waiting list to give other citizens the opportunity to have their concerns heard.
