The owner of Waiter on the Way said he didn’t get into business to spurn customers.
But Derek Berkes said three homicides in three days proves his policy of not making restaurant deliveries to certain areas on Fort Wayne’s south side is a good one.
“This isn’t something that just came up,” he said. “We’ve had it in place for about two years. It’s unfortunate some folks are being caught in the middle.”
Some residents are upset that Berkes’ business model makes service-area exceptions. Berkes, however, maintains that in “this economy” the last thing you want to do is alienate customers.
