Indiana and Purdue could be split up when the Big Ten realigns its divisions when the conference expands to 14 teams, according to a report on ESPN.com's Big Ten blog.

When Maryland and Rutgers joins the Big Ten for 2014, the Big Ten is expected to divide teams based on time zones.

But with eight schools in the Eastern time zone and six in the Central time zone, the Big Ten will have to move at least one EST school to the "West" division, names for future divisions have not been announced by the Big Ten yet.

And it looks like it will either be Indiana or Purdue heading west and getting out of a division that will be loaded with traditional Big Ten powers Michigan, Ohio State and Michigan State.

ESPN.com is predicting that Purdue will go to the "west" division, which would also include Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern and Wisconsin, and that IU would stay in the "east" with Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State and Rutgers.

The blog post also said that Indiana and Purdue will be a protected crossover game in football to keep the tradition of the in-state schools playing for the Old Oaken Bucket.
