Gerry Randall, the former Komets goalie, died at 70.

Sad news for K's

Former Komets goaltender Gerry Randall, who played for the Komets from 1965-69, died today at 70 after bouts with cancer, the team reported.

In his rookie year, he led the IHL with a goals-against average of 3.48.

He backstopped the Komets to the 1967 Turner Cup finals, playing in all 13 postseason games.

After his retirement from hockey, he worked for SuperValu as a merchandiser until 2002.

Services are pending through D.O. McComb and Sons, Lakeside.

  • The Komets waived defenseman Dan Nycholat, who had two goals and 18 points in 60 games this season.
