DANCE WORKSHOP: Louis Van Amstel from ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” will be hosting a workshop April 20 and 21 in Fort Wayne for his new dance fitness program, “LaBlast.” The workshop is $399 for two days, and registration is available at www.lablastfitness.com. PUBLISHED: Nicole Leigh Shaw of Fort Wayne recently appeared in the humor anthology on motherhood, “I Just Want to Pee Alone,” published by @throat_punch Books.

•B.J. Hollars of Fort Wayne has written a short-story collection of coming-of-age tales, “Sightings: Stories.” The book was published by Indiana University Press.

•B.J. Young, who lives in northwest Ohio, has published “A Portrait of Dawn,” a piece of Christian fiction about teenage pregnancy and adoption. The book was published by InspiringVoices.

•David Sowards of Fort Wayne recently published his inspirational book, “Going to Heaven,” at Lulu.com.

CONTESTANT CALL: “Idol Variety Night,” which raises money for the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund, is looking for contestants. Entrants must live or work in Kosciusko County, be available for the May 10 rehearsal and the May 11 event, choose a performance that is shorter than five minutes and provide music via CD for the night of the event.
