Cadets show grace

The Concordia boys basketball team stayed true to themselves and their Lutheran faith right up until the end – and even beyond.

The Cadets lost gracefully to Greensburg (73-70 in overtime) in the Class 3A state championship game Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, but from Thomas Starks’ postgame acceptance speech for the mental attitude award to the news conference afterward, they were humble and all mentioned a higher power.

“It might be cliché to do it, but I want to thank God,” Concordia coach Josh Eggold said.

One by one, the five starters at the presser echoed their coach’s feelings with their faith.

The Cadets won and - unfortunately for them – lost with grace and humility.
