INDIANAPOLIS – Gov. Mike Pence is tapping a former prosecutor to join the bench of St. Joseph Superior Court in South Bend.
Pence said Monday he appointed Elizabeth Hurley to fill the vacancy created by retiring Superior Court Judge Roland Chamblee.
Hurley leaves a job as St. Joseph Circuit Court Magistrate. She previously spent nine years working in the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.
Pence picked Hurley from a list of candidates vetted by the St. Joseph County Judicial Nominating Commission. She is his first superior court appointment statewide since he took office in January.
