Rural Ashley man charged in child battery

A rural Ashley man has been charged with felony battery to a child younger than 14, the Steuben County sheriff's department said today.

Danny L. Squier Jr., 27. was arrested at 2 p.m. today without incident, and was being held without bond at the county jail pending a court appearance, the sheriff's department said in a statement.

The statement said Squier's arrest followed a six-week investigation.

It said the sheriff's department was assisted by the St. Joseph County sheriff's department and Division of Child Services, the Steuben County Division of Child Services and by Angola police.
