Intruder sought after shooting man in his southwest home

An intruder shot and seriously injured a man in his home Saturday morning southwest of Fort Wayne, according to the Allen County Sheriff's Department.

At 11:38 a.m., the sheriff's department responded to a report of a home invasion in the 16000 block of Lafayette Center Road, near County Line Road.

The intruder, a man, came into the home and shot the homeowner in the abdomen before leaving in a vehicle.

The victim was taken to a hospital in serious condition, the sheriff's department said. His name was not released.

It was not clear what the motive was or whether anything was stolen. Investigators did not have a description of the intruder or the vehicle.
