Man badly hurt in shooting

FORT WAYNE -- A man was taken to a hospital in critical condition after police found him shot on Hanna Street Saturday afternoon.

The man was shot while walking on a sidewalk, said officer John Chambers, Fort Wayne police spokesman.

Witnesses reported seeing a man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt leaving the scene, Chambers said.

Officers were initially called about 1:30 p.m. about an unknown problem in the 800 block of Drexel Avenue. As they were responding to that call, they were sent to the 3300 block of Hanna Street to investigate gunshots.

Police were searching the neighborhood looking for the shooter.
