Fired Ohio employee investigated over contract

– DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Federal authorities are investigating allegations that a now-fired state employee helped steer a lucrative contract to a company with which he had business ties.

That's according to a document obtained Friday by the Dayton Daily News, (http://bit.ly/YlxZTW).

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported in a January 2012 memo to law enforcement that Jatinder Singh appeared to have business ties with United Software Group.

Singh was a manager in the Ohio agency's information technology department and was on a panel of employees that put United Software on a list of vendors bidding for a state contract to supply technological support in September 2010.

State records show that United Software has received more than $237,000 from the state.

A phone number listed for Singh was not accepting voicemails Saturday.
