Last time out

TinCaps 6, Loons 2

On the mound

TinCaps: Justin Hancock, RHP – 4.21 career ERA

Loons: Jharel Cotton, RHP – 1.20 career ERA

News and notes

  • Cotton's ERA looks menacing, but comes in only five minor league games and one start in his career. The righty will see how he fares in a full-time starting role today after striking out 20 players in 15 innings of work with the Ogden Raptors of the Pioneer League.
  • The TinCaps scored all six of their runs in the ninth inning Friday to pull out their second win. Mallex Smith, after a big day in his first game, started the rally. Alberth Martinez had two RBI in the last inning, and four other TinCaps had an RBI in the comeback. Matthew Shepherd closed the win with a 1-2-3 ninth.
